Aged Care Physiotherapist

Key focus

Provide clinical assessment, prevention measures and treatment for various musculoskeletal and pain-related conditions. The Physiotherapist will provide clinical services to clients by adopting best practice approaches to provide innovative solutions. They will apply their professional expertise to improve client outcomes, increase client database and implement new programs and services.

The Physiotherapist will be required to undertake health promotion activities relating to physiotherapy for both individual and targeted groups of clients and/or their families and contribute to the awareness/promotion of the service to relevant groups within the local community.

The physiotherapist will be required to perform manual handling assessments and education to the staff, engage in falls analysis and falls prevention strategies, as well as manual handling assessment on the individual clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality clinical assessment and treatment to clients, in line with best practice and ACFI guidelines
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plan as required
  • Establish and maintain an environment that is comfortable, safe and relaxed for clients
  • Complete accurate and timely client notes, documentation and reports which meet legal and ACFI requirements, ensuring privacy & confidentiality is maintained
  • Ensure that there is a comprehensive handover and communication process to all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure person centered care
  • Educate clients, their families and the community on falls prevention, injury prevention and healthy safe lifestyles
  • Provide a holistic approach to health care which incorporates health promotion activities according to community and organisational priorities
  • Build a positive profile of the practice throughout the local community via regular liaison with clients, referrers and 3rd party customers
  • Actively participate in continuous professional development to further develop skills as required by AHPRA
  • Liaise with all clients and staff in a professional and courteous manner to establish rapport
  • Provide assistance with improving business development systems and services where required
  • Uphold and demonstrate high professional standards and appearance expected of a health professional
  • Other general duties associated with position as required

Qualifications, skills, experience & competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent studies as assessed by the Australian Physiotherapy Council
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • CPR Certification & First Aid
  • NSW Police Check
  • Working With Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Completion Certificate
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Confirmation
  • Flu Vaccination
  • Knowledge of best practice in private physiotherapy customer service delivery
  • Exceptional communication skills (including written skills) with the ability to manage a diverse mix of clients
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly liaise with managers, clinical and administration staff, service providers, and clients
  • Willingness to assist with health promotion and marketing of physiotherapy services
  • Outstanding time-management and organisational abilities
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Resilient, motivated and ability to display initiative
